Automated 28-Point Inspection

Find out how your Microsoft 365 is really set up

Most small and mid-sized businesses had Microsoft 365 set up years ago and haven’t had a thorough check of the underlying settings since. Old admin accounts stay active, automatic external email forwarding is left open, SharePoint links work for anyone who has them, and DMARC is never switched from monitoring to enforcement.

Our Automated Microsoft 365 Security Hardening Audit connects in read-only mode to Microsoft Graph and inspects your public email DNS records. It checks 28 specific controls across sign-ins, admin roles, email spoofing, file sharing, Copilot readiness and backups, and produces a plain-English Red, Amber and Green traffic-light report.

What you receive

A practical traffic-light sheet, not a sales pitch

Every one of the 28 checks in your report is graded with a simple traffic light:

  • Red (Action Required): High-risk gaps—such as daily mailboxes running as Global Admin, automatic external forwarding enabled, or legacy sign-in protocols left open—that should be closed straight away.
  • Amber (Worth Hardening): Sensible improvements—such as tightening SharePoint link expiry, turning off third-party app consent, or moving from SMS codes to passkeys.
  • Green (All Good): Controls already configured to Microsoft and NCSC Cyber Essentials best practice.

Crucially, each recommendation states whether you can switch it on today with Microsoft 365 Business Standard or whether it requires Business Premium, along with the exact admin portal setting or PowerShell command.

Six areas tested

What the automated tool checks

  • Sign-in & MFA: Security Defaults vs Conditional Access, passkeys, legacy auth block, country restrictions and password policy.
  • Admin accounts: Global Admin count, separate unlicenced admin accounts, break-glass accounts and app consent.
  • Email & DNS protection: Live SPF, DKIM (selector1/selector2), DMARC policy, external auto-forwarding and hidden inbox rules.
  • SharePoint, OneDrive & Teams: Anonymous sharing links, guest access expiry and external Teams chat.
  • Copilot & AI readiness: Checking for over-shared HR, payroll or finance folders before staff use Microsoft Copilot.
  • Backups & devices: Independent backup coverage beyond the 93-day recycle bin, Intune enrolment and Secure Score.
