Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
This policy explains how we collect and use personal data when you visit our websites, contact us, book a call or deal with us as a business contact. It covers alphabyte.it (and alphabyte-it.co.uk, which redirects to it) and alphaops.biz.
Who we are
Alphabyte IT Limited (“Alphabyte IT”, “we”, “us”) is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. AlphaOps is a trading name of Alphabyte IT Limited.
Alphabyte IT Limited is registered in England and Wales under company number 07014261. Our registered office is 9/10 Connies House, Rhymney River Bridge Road, Cardiff, CF23 9AF.
For anything about your personal data, email beep@alphabyte.it, call 02920 022100 or write to us at the address above.
What this policy does not cover
When we look after IT systems for our clients, we usually handle data on our clients’ behalf as their processor. That work is governed by our contract and data processing terms with each client, not by this policy.
The personal data we collect
When you contact us or book a call
- The details you give us through a contact form: your name, phone number, email address and message.
- The details you enter when you book a call through Microsoft Bookings, such as your name, email address, phone number, company and anything you tell us about your enquiry.
- Emails you send us, notes of phone calls and the replies we send.
When you visit our websites
- Our hosting provider keeps short-term technical logs, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. These are used to run and protect the websites.
- We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It does not use cookies and does not identify you. We only see totals, such as the number of visits to a page, the website that referred them and the type of device used.
Business contacts
We sometimes contact businesses we think could benefit from our services. To do this we may use business contact details (name, job title, work email address and phone number, and company) that are publicly available or come from business contact data providers.
How we use your data and our lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange calls: our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To provide our services if you become a client: performance of our contract with you or your organisation.
- To run, secure and improve our websites: our legitimate interest in operating reliable and secure websites.
- To tell business contacts about our services: our legitimate interest in promoting our business to other businesses. Every message tells you how to opt out, and we stop as soon as you ask.
- To meet our legal obligations, for example keeping accounting records.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not make decisions about you using automated decision-making.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers who handle personal data on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:
- Netlify, Inc. hosts our websites and receives contact form submissions.
- Microsoft provides our email and Microsoft Bookings, through Microsoft 365.
- Our helpdesk system receives enquiries sent to our support address, so our team can reply and keep track of them.
- Cloudflare, Inc. provides our cookieless website statistics.
- Business contact data providers and email tools we use when contacting businesses about our services.
We may also share data with our professional advisers, with authorities where the law requires it, or with a buyer if our business is ever sold.
International transfers
Some of our providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. When personal data is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to working together: up to 2 years from our last contact, then deleted.
- Client records: for as long as we work together and then for 6 years, which is the period in which legal claims can be made.
- Website technical logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period only.
- Business contacts who ask us not to contact them: we keep a minimal record of your request so that we do not contact you again.
How we protect it
We are an IT security business and apply the same standards to our own systems as to our clients’. These include multi-factor authentication, encryption in transit, restricted access and the Cyber Essentials controls. We hold Cyber Essentials certification.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our websites do not use cookies. Our website statistics do not use cookies either.
If you close the notice bar on alphaops.biz, your browser remembers that in its local storage so the notice does not reappear. This record contains no personal data.
If you book a call, the booking page is provided by Microsoft and may use cookies of its own. Microsoft’s privacy statement applies to that page.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your data;
- ask us to restrict how we use your data;
- object to how we use your data, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing;
- ask for your data in a portable format, where this applies.
To use any of these rights, contact us at beep@alphabyte.it. We will reply within one month. There is normally no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Links to other websites
Our websites link to other sites, such as our remote support service and our sister business AlphaOps. Other organisations’ websites have their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the way we use personal data changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
